Heat belts are available in different versions: for sports in the cold, for pain or just for additional warmth. Find out which heat belt is right for you.

Especially in the cold seasons, we enjoy every additional warmth so that it becomes and remains cozy and warm under the duvet.

Have you ever thought of a warming belt as a warming sleep aid?

With a warmth belt you not only promote your own quality of sleep. Many products have medical benefits and are used for therapeutic purposes.

  • Regular supply of heat promotes blood circulation.
  • Your muscles relax and pain is relieved.

I would like to recommend the best heat belt for your application and also give you some advice and tips.

There are many ways to get extra warmth: from extra winter blankets to hot water bottles, you’re sure to have a favorite. For more warming ideas, please see my recommendations at the end of the article.

How do heat belts work?

Where ordinary belts are only strapped around the waistband, a warmth belt can be attached to several parts of the body.

The wide shape of the warmth belt allows you to use it over a large area on the trunk or upper back.

Warmth belts not only ensure a warm feeling and a comfortable sleep. In most cases of treatment, a heat belt is used around the lumbar and hip area.

You can also use the heat belt specifically against the following ailments:

  • Tension : As heat therapy for muscle pain, sore muscles or general tension
  • Joint pain : Provides relief for mild joint and vertebral problems
  • Back problems : Serves as supportive therapy for lumbago and slipped discs
  • Cystitis : Warmth reduces the discomfort of sensitive bladders

There is not ONE warmth belt, but many different variants.

Tip: In the article Back-friendly sleeping you can find out how you can prevent back problems.

In order not to lose the overview, I would like to explain the different types of warming belts to you in more detail and recommend the best product in each case.

Which warmth belt suits me?

Before buying, you should think carefully about how often you actually use the heat belt.

Y.

From a purely cost perspective, investing in a reusable heat belt is worthwhile from around the sixth time it is used.

If your back or neck pain is due to a rare sporting overload, it is worth buying disposable warmth belts.

If you are otherwise in top shape or physically resistant and have no complaints, then heat belts for single use are more suitable for you.

Nonetheless, I recommend buying a warmth belt that you can use multiple times. Investing in such a copy is not only worthwhile for cost reasons.

  • Heat belts for single use (package with 3 pieces from 10 euros): are cheaper, available in almost every pharmacy and mostly consist of purely biological ingredients.
  • Heat belts for repeated use (from approx. 25 euros): are worthwhile after a certain number of applications and can be used more specifically against health complaints with electrical impulses.
  • Warmth belt made of pure wool (from approx. 20 euros): A flexible model made of fine and warming wool. With this variant, the area is only treated with your own body heat.

If you live in a household with several people, sooner or later buying a reusable warmth belt will be worthwhile for all family members.

But such a heat belt is also the more sensible alternative in a one-person household.

Advantage of reusable heat belts

It can always be the case that a neck dislocates or a back muscle becomes tense due to a wrong movement.

Just in case, you already have the reusable heat belt ready for use at home.

You don’t have to go to the nearest pharmacy with back pain or ask someone else to do this favor.

Reusable warmth belts are therefore not only the better choice for reasons of convenience, but also for reasons of precaution and faster availability.

Prevent the cold with a warmth belt

You can also use a heat belt for prophylactic purposes.

This heat therapy is particularly effective in the cold seasons. The belt warms the muscles before they are stressed in the winter cold.

This is of particular benefit if you spend a lot of time outdoors in the winter months or work outside in the cool air.

Even people who are particularly susceptible to frost or outdoor athletes can use these belts to prevent cold temperatures with targeted warmth.

Disadvantage of disposable heat belts

Some disposable heat belts are made from purely organic ingredients.

In this way you protect the environment, but on the other hand you have a product with a short shelf life.

Because if a heat belt for a single use is left unused in the closet for too long, the product will eventually lose its effectiveness.

For each type of the three warmth belts, I would like to recommend at least one model that I think will best suit your purposes.

Heat belt for single use

The requirements for such a heat belt are now clear. It shouldn’t cost a lot, should only be used once and be ready for immediate use.

However, heat belts for single use are not flexible in their application. So you have to insert it in the lumbar area and cannot pull it over the wider back circumference.

During my research I noticed a product that was very convincing in terms of price and quality.

In addition, the heat belt is environmentally friendly and you can dispose of it with normal household waste.

The manufacturer promises at least 12 hours of warmth through this disposable warmth belt. With this period you cover an entire working day. I think that is more than sufficient.

The information that the manufacturer is the official supplier of this product to the national ski associations of Austria and Switzerland and also supplies the German snowboard team seems particularly trustworthy.

The backs of winter sports enthusiasts in particular have to withstand the highest levels of stress in bitterly cold temperatures.

  • A muscle tears quickly, causing pain and causing the competition to end prematurely.
  • It says a lot about the quality of the product when high-performance athletes trust this heat pack for winter sports.

The biggest restriction here, however, is that, according to the product description, this heat belt cannot be used overnight.

At first glance, I can’t see any reason why nighttime use should be bad for the body.

Some buyers of this disposable warmth belt probably think so too. In many reviews I could read that the heat belt is safe and warm even when sleeping. When in doubt, trust the manufacturer’s information.

If you are still looking for a warming sleep aid for single use, I recommend the following alternatives:

In addition, there are alternative ointments, gels and sprays that can also be used for relaxation and recovery of aching muscles.

However, I would much rather draw your attention to all reusable thermal belts.

Warmth belt for multiple use

In contrast to heat belts for single use, you have to pay attention to several things with reusable heat belts.

Be careful when using it at night

In the past, there have been reports of excessively warming products such as electric blankets and heating pads that ignited during the night and caused a fire in the bedroom.

There can be several triggers for this:

  • The heating pad overheats and catches fire.
  • Lower quality from China and no security controls.
  • The pillow is damaged and the heating rods are exposed.
  • The socket struck a spark.
  • They use flammable bed linen made from fine wool.

Now, heat belts are not electric blankets and work on different circuits and lower temperatures. Despite everything, I don’t want to rule out a certain residual risk when using it overnight.

During my research, however, I could not find any newspaper reports or reports about dangerous heat belts.

Info: Nevertheless, be aware of a fundamental danger and never use the heat belt carelessly or for purposes other than intended.

Whichever warmth belt you choose, please read the safety instructions in the product description carefully for your own safety.

Warmth belt made of natural wool

There is an exciting alternative to the variants from the previous chapter.

In contrast to the electrically operated heat belts, the two following models work with their own body heat.

The heat is therefore not supplied artificially from outside. With this procedure, your own body heat is stored in the soft wool and returned to the body.

It can take up to 30 minutes before the warming effect occurs.

The application overnight is completely harmless. There is neither a recommended length of use nor a specific point in time after which prolonged use has negative consequences for your body.

Angora and merino wool are sometimes considered to be the finest and warmest wool used in modern clothing and textiles.

These wools come from the angora rabbit and the merino sheep. Thanks to their natural properties, they are velvety soft and keep the animals warm even in freezing temperatures.

Price-performance winner

The following product is a medical heat belt made of various materials (cotton, mixed wool, latex, polyester) and is particularly hard-wearing.

Another specialty is the way it is used.

In contrast to belts with (Velcro) fasteners, most of these warming belts slip over your head like a shirt and pull it down to your torso.

The material is flexible and adapts to your body size up to a certain point.

Another good thing: the price between sizes XS and XXXL remains the same. Regardless of your waist size, you won’t pay more for more product material at the same time.

The shape of this Angora warmth belt stretches when worn and is suitable for both masculine and feminine body shapes.

Warmth belt made from 100% organic wool

If you are interested in a warmth belt made exclusively from animal wool, I recommend the following model:

In contrast to the previous model, this warmth belt is fastened around the stomach / back with a Velcro fastener.

Considered purely from the proportions, the heat belt is very flexible for a waist circumference of 90 cm to 130 cm and adapts well to the body shape.

Also relevant: Due to its nature made of animal wool, you can wash the warming belt on the delicate cycle in the washing machine.

The dealer also offers a 30-day return policy. Many good arguments for a purchase.

Are heat belts dangerous?

Of course, that always depends on your individual use.

Excessive use is never beneficial and can lead to slight skin redness and irritation even with warmth belts and the moderate temperatures.

If the area to be treated on the back is already irritated by dry or rough skin, or if the above problems apply, you should not use a heat belt.

This could make the problems worse and cause additional pain.

  • In addition, you should consult a doctor before use in the event of circulatory disorders or inflammation of the vertebral joints.
  • A warmth belt is supposed to have a supportive effect and cannot, as a self-proclaimed all-purpose weapon, solve every ailment.

Also read the instructions for use for patients with pacemakers.

Another example: I’ve had my warmth belt for many years. In the instruction manual it is pointed out that the “use is not suitable for diabetics”. There are things.

Warmth belt: rechargeable battery, battery or cable?

Also a fundamental decision when it comes to electrical operation. The electricity for the electrical impulses and the heat generation has to come from somewhere.

I did a bit of research and then decided against the battery supply. This is neither contemporary nor particularly environmentally friendly and I would like to recommend the most modern variant to you.

Nevertheless, a certain mobility in the application should be possible. I would like to use the heat belt on the go and not be dependent on the direct power supply of the socket.

You can therefore supply the following product with power both with the 5V power bank and with a USB power supply unit (120cm).

Big plus: the heating element is made of rubber and is waterproof. This means that the entire heat belt can be washed in the washing machine at 45 ° C.

You can regulate your desired degree of warmth in three different levels with this warmth belt. A built-in back support ensures an upright shape even after repeated use.

  • Many product reviews praise the medical benefits that the heat brings to a herniated disc and back pain in the lumbar region.
  • For me, a welcome additional benefit if back pain can be alleviated with it.

This heat belt is suitable for users with a waist circumference of 120cm. The so-called overheating protection also ensures that the heat belt automatically switches off if it is overheated.

Cleaning and maintenance of the warmth belt

The heat generated by the heat belt ensures that you start to sweat easily. This can happen even in the lowest heat levels.

Repeated use therefore causes in the long term that the moisture not only starts to smell bad, but mold can also develop.

If you now want to choose a warmth belt for multiple use or a warmth belt made of angora wool, please note the hygiene and washing instructions for the individual products.

Not all heat belts are machine washable or can be put in the dryer. So before irreversible damage to the heat belt occurs, it is better to wash the product by hand and disinfect the surface.

In addition to the helpful double function of cleaning and disinfecting, this product is biodegradable and skin-friendly. You can use it on many other textile surfaces in the bedroom or other rooms.

If the pain persists, see a doctor

I don’t like going to the doctor either. But there is almost nothing worse than postponed back pain.

Not only does the pain persist for a long time if left untreated, our back is no longer resilient and, for better or worse, creates a crooked posture.

You can use the heat belts I have suggested from a qualitative perspective. However, they are not a panacea for back pain of all kinds and do not guarantee a healing process.

For minor ailments, after strenuous exercise or for prevention or heat supply in the cold season, there are hardly any better alternatives than a long-term heat belt.

As good and helpful as some warmth belts may be, at some point the product reaches its limits and can no longer help.

Note: If a heat belt does not relieve muscle tension, cannot treat lumbago and cannot provide medical relief, then you must consult an orthopedic surgeon or chiropractor.

He can put you back in the right position, put a targeted injection or administer painkillers.

Conclusion

Heat belts are a great way to add extra warmth at night or to stay warm during activities in the cold.

You can choose between the following variants:

  • Disposable warming belts
  • Warmth belt for multiple use
  • Warmth belt made of wool
