Trek Night sleeping bag by Outdoorer in the test

This light trekking sleeping bag turned out to be the perfect companion for hiking tours in spring, summer and autumn.

Outdoorer’s Trek Night has been my loyal companion over the past few days:

  • It is very light and can be stowed away to save space.
  • Despite the low price, it keeps you warm and feels good.

This makes it a good choice for long hiking tours – at least when temperatures stay above the frost line.

You are welcome to read my full test report with experiences from everyday hiking.

First of all: The Trek Night is a light sleeping bag.

It is especially suitable for trekking tours in summer or hiking in the transition period (spring / autumn) – and less for bivouacking in frosty temperatures.

  • The manufacturer Outdoorer specifies the comfort range with around 10 degrees plus. It is not suitable for temperatures below this mark.
  • However, warmer is not a problem. In my experience, it can be endured up to around 20 degrees – but above that it gets too hot.

You can also open the zipper to the hip and the Trek Night as a kind of in such warm temperatures blanket use to nocturnal sweating during sleep to avoid.

In the comfort area itself, the sleeping bag convinced me during my test:

Soft & warm

The material on the outside felt a lot like plastic in the first grip test – unfortunately, this is often the case with polyester with a high insulation effect (and should of course be so).

The inside itself leaves nothing to be desired: it is extremely soft and hugs the skin comfortably.

In the area of the feet there is also an extra layer with additional filling, which provides additional warmth when the temperature is cool.

When sleeping, the sleeping bag meets all of my requirements – at an ambient temperature of around 9-12 degrees during the test:

  1. it keeps the body warm
  2. ensures comfortable sleep
  3. he leaves air to breathe

The last point is very important to me (and since the Trek Night is rather light, it can shine here). The manufacturer does not advertise the materials as breathable, but they feel very airy.

This is especially important at temperatures that are slightly above the comfort zone.

If it gets warm, the inside does not stick to the sweaty body, but helps it to regulate the temperature.

  • Unfortunately, in such a case the zipper can only be opened up to the waist – so it cannot be used as a light summer blanket for very hot people.
  • As mentioned above, the Trek Night is only suitable up to around 20 degrees for this reason – I wouldn’t want to use it for a long time above that.

In the range recommended by the manufacturer, however, the sleeping bag shines with a lot of comfort.

Very light & compact

The great insulation is amazing in that the Trek Night weighs less than 1kg.

This makes it the ideal companion for extended hiking tours and trekking trips. You will also notice the low weight when packing:

  • Once the sleeping bag is stowed in the supplied cover, it hardly takes up any space – the pack size is significantly smaller than that of the competition.
  • There are also a few practical straps on the cover that you can use to carry the sleeping bag or attach it to your backpack – a helpful detail.

Tip: If you need even more space in your backpack, you can use a compression bag – it reduces the volume of the sleeping bag a little more.

But even without such help, the small Trek Night shows one of its greatest strengths in this area.

By the way: The stowage works without problems despite the compact dimensions.

The material can be rolled up and stowed in the case without much effort. This is much easier with lightweight sleeping bags with their thinner layers than with models for freezing temperatures.

Big people watch out

Unfortunately, the small size has one downside: the sleeping bag is not the largest.

  • Although I fit easily into the sleeping bag with my 1.90, other models offer a little more space.
  • It was never really annoying, but with some competitors it is easier to get out of the closed bag in the morning.

So if you are the same size as me and also have a lot of waist size, then I do not consider the Trek Night to be the optimal choice in such a case.

But everyone else can access it without hesitation.

More extras from everyday life

A common weak point of cheap sleeping bags is the zipper.

The one of the Trek Nights looks stable and worked without any problems during the entire sleeping bag test . Jerky movements or strenuous pulling were never necessary – the lock always did its job reliably.

  • That is of course no guarantee for the future, but compared to some other models I find the quality to be clearly better – especially in this price segment.
  • Another nice extra is the built-in cell phone pocket, in which you can stow your smartphone during the night – annoying searches in the morning are a thing of the past.

In terms of price-performance, the lightweight sleeping bag is in the upper league in my opinion. In this price segment you hardly get anything better.

Conclusion on the Trek Night from Outdoorer

If you are looking for a very light trekking sleeping bag for long hiking tours, then you should definitely take a closer look at the Trek Night from Outdoorer .

Despite its low weight, it offers a cozy sleep feeling and is excellent for most of the year against cold temperatures.

In view of the fair price, you can buy it without hesitation – despite minor weaknesses, you will probably not find a better model for easy tours in this area.
