Give it a try with coziness – the currently best oversized blankets. These recommendations will help you cuddle.
Would you like to buy a new blanket online?
What we let in so close to our body shouldn’t be rashly ordered online – the risk is too great that the new blanket will make your hair stand on end electrically, come out of the dryer in XXS , trigger allergies or not even keep you warm .
For all those who want to cuddle up really luxuriously this winter, but are not necessarily ready to spend huge sums, I have collected some information about the greatest giant blankets here.
The Stiftung Warentest has kindly cuddled up for us once – I’ve summarized the most important results for you.

These are the test winners
Since the test winners are all made of microfiber, I will introduce you to a few more natural variants made of wool below (and explain the differences).
Let’s go with the test winner:
1st place: The cozy blanket made of Sherpa fleece with lambskin look from Bedsure
The blanket with a classic light gray top is made of light microfiber and the white fleece is roughened on the inside so that it feels like a warm lambskin.
In contrast to real lambskin, the Bedsure can be easily cleaned in the cold wash cycle and can even be tumbled in the dryer!
On top of that there is a durability guarantee from the manufacturer for over 10 years – and with its fair price, our winning blanket is also quite affordable.
2nd place: living room and cozy blanket with a cashmere feeling from Amago
Second place surprised me quite a bit because I didn’t expect a blanket from the discounter.
The cuddly blanket with a “cashmere feeling” was really on the rummaging table at Lidl … In the meantime, however, it is mainly available at Amazon under the name Amago – and with 220x240cm even a bit more XXL than 1st place.
It’s also great for two to cuddle.
So if you want a blanket that really seems to feel a bit like cashmere, even though it’s made of 100% microfiber, you can also choose from seventeen (!) Colors.
According to Amazon customers, the item can also be washed and the scent of freshly washed laundry lingers in it for a long time – for that extra dose of comfort.
- The only disadvantage: According to a couple of experience reports, the ceiling starts to fluff after about 5 washes.
- As is so often the case on the internet, there are contradicting opinions about this, but everyone agrees that the Amago is super fluffy!
The price is quite cheap – at least for a (fake) cashmere blanket. However, this only applies to the smallest model (130 × 270). For the big cuddle you should then expect twice the price.
Tip: Handmade premium blanket from Germany
The blanketino blankets do not have sleeves, but I would like to mention them anyway. Because each of them is unique – on the homepage you can put together your own personal blanket and determine the material, color, pattern and even embroidery with your name.
- The price is not cheap, but there is a lot of quality here. The blanket is made in Germany and complies with the Oeko-Tex 100 standard.
- With many other blankets, you never really know the conditions under which they are made – here you get pollutant-tested quality from Cologne.

XXL wool blankets in oversize
Has none of the test winners convinced you yet? Are you also more of a fan of natural materials, beautiful patterns and woolen fabrics?
Blankets made of real wool can cost a little more, but they are guaranteed to keep you warm and have traditionally proven themselves. There is also the optical factor.
However, if you have children or if you like to enjoy a red wine on the sofa, you should consider one thing:
Woolen blankets are far more difficult to clean – especially the favorite XXL blankets often do not fit into smaller washing drums or must not be washed at all – and unfortunately they usually take a long time to dry.
Note: Here you will find tips on how to wash cozy blankets .
But pure new wool has a self-cleaning and dirt-repellent effect – the latter unfortunately does not work with red wine …
Nonetheless, woolen blankets will last a lifetime if handled properly. Here is my personal favorite for a bigger budget, but still very affordable for the great quality:
3rd place: Premium wool blanket “Gotland”, pure Scandinavian new wool
The Urbanara blanket is made from the wool of the Gotland sheep. It is made from 100% wool.
You can choose between different, I think beautiful, subtle patterns and colors.
- Although the wool must not be washed, it naturally requires little care and is self-cleaning and dirt-repellent.
- The blanket is also available in smaller sizes; most XXL sizes start at around a hundred euros.
The same brand also has great blankets made from the wool of the South American alpaca – a kind of llama – with which you are guaranteed not to get cold feet (even without an electric blanket ).

Closing word
Regardless of whether you ultimately decide on a microfiber blanket or a wool blanket – I wish you a lot of fun and comfort with your new XXL favorite blanket.
